Aloha friends!
This will be a short catch up about what happened with World of Myths so far and what’s up next.
Back in 2014 when we decided to dive into game development we knew that our main genre of interest would be Online Collectible Card Games (CCG). We had some experience as players of physical CCGs and the idea perfectly fitted our understanding of a good game concept – one that makes you think, one that you can play with friends and you can screw up those friends or party with them against other players.
We had the idea about mythology related CCG back then and we started with pen and paper prototypes – talking with friends, attending different boardgames gatherings etc. We knew we got something good at first glance but we got three problems.
Although we have proven to be a good software development team, we had no experience in game development. So we decided to launch a smaller game as a learning project. And so “Animals at War” was created. The game wasn’t officially released but we learned a lot and for us it was a successfull project.
The second problem was that we didn’t have illustrator in the team. We tried working with different artists but none matched our vision and we were desparate. But then we met Luke. Finally we had art that everyone liked as much as they liked the game idea. We were overexcited so we launched our website with the promise of “Coming in 2015”. Meanwhile we continued to attend events and improve our core game design.
The third problem was with the “Coming in 2015” promise. All of us had regular daily jobs and we worked on “World of Myths” in the evenings and weekends which as you might guess isn’t the best approach when you want to release a high quality product.
Which gets us to 3rd July 2017. Although there were some team changes we are really happy to announce that we’ve started to work full time on “World of Myths” and the game got our full attention. Hurraaay!!! For the past years the Online CCG genre had blossomed and there are many new and upcoming games. So how would we differ from everybody else.
Our plan is to create the next step in the Online Collectible Card Games experience. We want to return the control of the in-game battles in the hands of the players. We want you to be able to react on your opponents attacks. We also want to make a game which we AND YOU want to play and ENJOY. That is why we will need your help.
Starting at the end of July we will experiment with different tunings of the core game mechanics. We would love to have you on our side during that process. So if you want to be part of our journey take a minute to subscribe on our website and we will contact you soon. Of course there will be some amazing rewards for the most active of you.
We will try to make regular updates which will introduce you to the amazing “World of Myths” and everything we’ve done so far.
Now is the time to put our helms on, arm ourselves and make the game that all of us can enjoy.
